Born and raised in Russia, I received my
medical degree in Pediatrics at the Moscow Medical School.
I have dual training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
(All-Union Center for Child Psychiatry, Moscow, 1991 and
Children's Hospital, Boston, 2001.) During 1991-1993 I worked
in Russian orphanages as part of ongoing studies of high-risk
infants and assisted American families visiting Russian
orphanages.
Currently I continue to provide services
to American families adopting from Russia. I assist with
translating and interpreting medical records and videotapes
brought from Russia. I also provide a comprehensive initial
evaluation of the child and family and offer ongoing treatment,
including psychopharmacology.
I understand challenges
and opportunities that impact the development of babies
raised in orphanages and the forces that may affect family
dynamics in the context of international adoption. My approach
is outcome-oriented with measurable goals carefully chosen
on an individual basis. My values emphasize the family focus
with a strong commitment to child-parent advocacy. My strength
and sustainability come from building relationships rather
than simply facilitating recommendations. I trust in each
family's strength and unlimited possibilities.
In addition to my private practice, I am an attending physician
at the Boston Center of Westwood Pembroke Health System's
Eating Disorder Partial Hospitalization Program and I am
also the Medical Director of the Cambridge Youth Guidance
Center, which is affiliated with Cambridge Hospital. I am
Board-Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and
Neurology.
