I am a New York licensed psychologist, currently
in a private practice in the Hudson Valley area of New York.
In my work I utilize various treatment modalities and techniques
with adults, adolescents, and children. I have a special
interest, as well as extensive training and expertise, in
working with victims of childhood sexual abuse.
Another area of interest for me is in helping
families of adopted school-age children diagnosed with a
Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) aka Attachment Disorder.
Currently, I am working to integrate EMDR (Eye Movement
Desensitization Reprocessing) in the treatment of RAD. Research
has been promising in the effectiveness of EMDR with RAD
as well as trauma such as sexual/physical abuse. EMDR is
on a list of empirically validated treatments for Posttraumatic
Stress Disorder (PTSD)(Chambless et al,1998).
I immigrated to this country from Russia,
like many of the staff at the BGCenter and have a native
fluency in the Russian language. For this reason, working
with internationally adopted children from Eastern Europe
holds particular meaning for me. I would like to help these
children process the numerous traumas they've experienced
in their lives. I would also like to do what I can to help
adoptive parents and their children bond in the healthiest
ways possible.
