Cognitive and Academic Remediation of
School Age
Internationally Adopted Children
Often the origins and
manifestation of cognitive and academic delays in internationally
adopted children
can be identified through an understanding
of the orphanage experience and
through other indications
in the pre-adoption documentation.
This workshop will review
the early symptoms of Cumulative Cognitive Deficit (CCD) and
will
show how it can impact the school age child.
Additionally,
Dr. Gindis will discuss the benefits of psycho-educational evaluation
in order to determine the "school readiness" of
a newly adopted child and make the beginning of the school experience
more productive and less traumatic for the child.
