In my practice I am committed to creating
an atmosphere of safety, comfort and respect for individuality
while providing space for emotional and spiritual growth.
I believe that the relationship between the therapist and
client is of primary importance to personal change, because
it encourages one to be as true to oneself as possible.
I am convinced that everybody has the ability to transform
his/her own life; all one needs is a belief in oneself and
at times, focused guidance.
In my clinical work I often combine traditional
psychotherapy methods with hypnosis. I find that
this combination works best when treating a wide range of
emotional and physical problems, enhancing well-being, and
improving quality of life.
The kind of knowledge and experience that
I bring to my practice lies in working with adults from
a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, who are
struggling with emotional, behavioral, and social problems.
As an immigrant from the former Soviet Union, and therefore
bilingual and bicultural, I am sensitive to issues common
to immigrant population. This personal experience enhances
my understanding of the complexities related to adaptation
and acculturation that the adoption community often faces.
I hold a BA degree (Magna Cum Laude) from
NYU in Psychology, a MS degree from Columbia University
School of Social Work, and an Advanced Clinical Certification
in Hypnotherapy from The Institute of Hypnotherapy. I am
board certified and licensed to perform psychotherapy in
NY and NJ.
